Let Everything the Breaths Praise the Lord

On September 1st, 2024, we met early, at 9am, because Knox was marching in the Pride Parade.  Our reading was Psalm 150, the last of the psalms.  It is “the last word”, wrapping up the Book with the instruction to dance and make music: “Let everything that breathes praise the Lord. Halleluia!”.

Rev. Sheena’s reflection was all about music: it’s power to capture the human experience.  Quoting Rev. Jake Miles, Rev. Sheena noted how Psalm 150 is a love song, a lament, a protest, a parade.  And, how, in coming together, to march, to sing, to show up for one another, we can bring into being “the impossible possibility” of a more just and loving world.  Just like the final psalm, the final song, the last word will be that of joy and love.
